HOMECOMING

[Also posted on [info]fridayhaiku ]

Homecoming after a long sunny summer in Italy, hence the deep tans. The wistful smiles reflect the ambivalence about ending a beautiful journey. We always fell silent on the trips home, a certain melancholy or feeling of emptiness descended.

Finished taking this test, saw the authors, and realized that Rene and Elizabeth were friends of mine for a while in Berkeley, about the time that they were collaborating on this book.
We were in a DREAM ANALYSIS discussion group, several other psych oriented discussion groups together. They are two brilliant, intuitive women.

WILDLIFE CRISIS IN AMERICA
The  photo below captures a disturbing trend that is beginning to affect  wildlife in the US.

Animals  that were formerly self-sufficient are now showing signs of belonging to the Republican Party... as they have apparently learned to simply sit and wait for the government to  provide for their care and sustenance.

SIFTING THROUGH THE RUNES

After spending 2 months tramping around India, my man and I were exhilarated, but exhausted, I had lost weight, [13#], both of us having endured severe "New Delhi Belly," survived without hospitalization. But, what a trip it was. India is not a country, it's an EXPERIENCE. Beautiful, scary, septic, spiritual, serene and chaotic, sodden and sere, a mass of contradictions. Unforgettable things and events, were seen, experienced.
The day after we landed home at SFO, unpacked, repacked, headed straight for a week at this wonderful spa in Sonoma County to 'take the waters,' be pampered, soothed and massaged, and come down, so to speak.
I love this photo. It tells a story in triptych fashion. This shot is the first in a series of three exposures taken as I was primping for dinner hour: my quizzical expression upon first seeing psychiatrist man as he stealthed up behind me. The other two pix [not shown] are my continuing the business of lipsticking.
I deliberately 'grained' the photo.

I am so proud of this young man,
of all those who competed regardless of country, win or not.
It's a long, arduous road to these games.
In the name of international solidarity,
I salute you, Michael.

SATYA'S SAN FRANCISCO CAKE
Yesterday evening, I talked to [info]satyapriya on the phone. She is in San Francisco, touring, taking in the exotic beauty of  "Baghdad by the Bay." [That descriptive phrase was coined before the M.E. fell apart.]
We wanted to meet for tea or lunch, but I couldn't make it. [Sister is ill again, I am upstate Calif. since two days ago.]
I had made Satya this cake for our tea. One candle for her first visit to the USA.

 .
What a delightful Australian voice she has, and such a joy to talk to an LJer from the other side of the world!! Particularly someone as special as satyapriya. This woman took off from Australia alone, flew to the USA, figured out how to get around S.F. [a task that sometimes confounds locals!] What courage.
